HAPPY MARCH MOON!!Welcome to the March Guid Goss!!Happy Spring!Transition News! First up, I’m now coming up for 4 months on testosterone and LOVING seeing all the changes - I’ll be posting a recent video I did for a guy’s group on the group so you can see how much lower my voice is now if you’re interested lol - reading a bit of a slower scene in it (the one in Lust & Other Demons where Jin takes Sam to meet Marshall by the lone pine, then walks back and gets jumped out at by a Takai). Still doesn’t quite sound male but it’s getting closer!! Other than that, my legs are getting furrier & more mannish in shape & there are other very welcome changes too. The biggest thing, though, is how much good it’s doing me! I’ve known this (about myself) since I was 14 & have tried a kerzillion completely different ways to manage it & just feel ok enough, but - as odd as it sounds - it never occurred to me how much happier just going for it would make me. For me, transition was an absolute last resort & I was afraid of it. Looking down now, and seeing changes on my body that don’t even feel like changes because my brain always said those things should be there, is SUCH a relief. I feel like for the first time in my life I’m able to begin ‘moving in’ to my body and I am really, REALLY glad I get to share bits of that process with you all! Thanks!! ALDER MOON/MOON OF THE RED GRASS APPEARINGMarch Moon is also ‘Egg Moon’, ‘New Shoots Moon’, ‘Alder Moon’ (Fearn in Celtic, pron fairin) and, one of many Native American names: ‘Moon of the Red Grass Appearing’, which is just gorgeous! Alders grow near water so has links to streams, swamps, mystery & secrecy (think Yoda on Dagobah), heightened by the green dye from the flowers, meant to be used by faeries (& outlaws!) as camo. The wood ‘bleeds’ orange when cut & becomes hard as stone when left in water, so was used to support Bronze Age crannochs (wooden strongholds on Scottish lochs), It was also the wood of choice for canal lock gates. Most of Venice is built on piles of alder trunks! Alder doesn’t burn well except as charcoal, for which it was used by the Celts for blacksmithing and was considered to forge the best weapons. Whistles, pipes & flutes were also once made from alder shoots to summon Air spirits 💙 |
