Werebears, wyrdlings & wanderers! In honour of the Hammer Falls student newspaper, I’m renaming this newsletter The Guid Goss. I’ll be adding new sections over the next few months so let me know if there’s something you really want to see!

Writing Updates: Those who follow me on Facebook (Tal Frost’s Werebears & Wyrdlings) will know I’m eyeballs deep in The Tree of Life (Hammer Falls: 3) – it’s a MAMMOTH job involving telling the book 3 story itself, as well as the much larger, longer ‘series story’ and resolving about ten different character arcs lol so I hope you’ll be patient with me! At the mo, I’m aiming for late summer and currently narrowing in on the halfway point of draft 1, so hoping to have some tentative snippets for youse all before long 😉!!

Again, heartfelt THANKS to everyone who’s left reviews/ratings or rec’d the series to others. It can be bloody hard to reach the Magic 50 Amazon ratings (when it starts adding a book to suggested reads, finding new readers), especially if you’re writing things that are a bit different, so you are massively appreciated 💙 THANK YOU!!!

Moons & Myth

The April moon was called Egg Moon by the Anglo-Saxons and Alder Moon by the Celts. Alders love water and have the unusual quality of setting hard as stone in it, instead of rotting like most woods. That made it perfect for crannochs (wooden strongholds on Scottish lochs). No crannochs in book 3 but Hammer Falls is really f*cking wet AND we’re going to the waterfall, so you might spot the odd alder 😉

PS if you can’t read the graphic, the snippet says, ‘A sieve, of shelter maketh show; but every storm will through it go’. So, uh, yeah… don’t use a sieve as an umbrella. You heard it here first 😎

New Website Section!!!

There’s a new ‘Fan Art’ section in the Bonus Content part of my website!

One person has already contributed some really beautiful book boards (thank you mad.bad.rash 💙!!) and over time I hope to add more things so please email tal@tal-frost.com if you’d like to add something 😊 - I’d love to include it! You’ll also see a ‘Coming Soon’ section for official character artwork – hoping to add to that sometime later this year, even if I have to draw it myself lol.

Naked Friends: Colin Dereham

Okay so the bit you’ve been waiting for! A brand new Author Spotlight section to give back to writers who’ve given me help & support and ALSO to tell you something about them & what they’re up to at the moment (!!!) – starting with the awesome Colin Dereham!

For those who want the background, I met Colin when I messaged him to ask if he’d take part in my first release party (for Sons of Heaven & Hell, I hadn’t even known about release parties for Lust & Other Demons). I’d come across his books and loved the fact he wasn’t writing the usual stuff either: his scenarios tend to be grittier, character emotions messier and everything more real-feeling than a lot of what’s out there. Amazingly, he said he’d be glad to participate, then we started chatting and didn’t stop lol.

And now for the gossip!! For those who already love Colin’s books, I’m sure you’re wondering what’s next: is he working on something? What is it? When might it appear? Sooooo……

Colin is currently working on a new novel! It’s about a legally blind man in an emotionally abusive open relationship. As his domestic situation deteriorates, he meets another man in an open relationship that’s on its last legs. The two men form a friends-with-benefits arrangement, supporting each other as they try to escape and move on with their lives…

I, for one, can’t wait – I think it sounds fantastic and complex and I know it’s in the safest of hands with Colin. As to when it will be available, no date set yet but a little bird/big bear told me he’s aiming for around mid-summer so not long!
