SUMMER of FUN & FUR!Welcome everyone to the May full moon newsletter🎉TRANSITION UPDATE!! First up, NEWS!! I’ll try to make video updates as I’m going along - though I’ve been hard at work on the new book at the mo - BUUUUUUT I’ve now had psych assessment for top surgery, been deemed very suitable and got my referral. After a few problems caused by people not having done things they were meant to do, I’ve also now got a Patient Profile off my GP, which are the two things I needed to book a surgery consultation… WHICH IS NOW BOOKED. And because I could go in face-to-face, I’ve actually managed to book that for next week (Wednesday), instead of waiting months. That will be my opportunity to speak to my surgeon, go through everything the surgery will entail, my choices etc, then I begin the wait for surgery. This surgeon has a 4-5 month wait, so I’m hoping for Oct/Nov but earlier slots often open up, meaning there’s a good chance I’ll get it sooner as I’m pretty local AND work from home so have more flexibility than most! I’m excited and of course scared, as it’s surgery, but am really looking forward to releasing my chest after all these years! One more step into what will feel much more like my body ❤️ Sadly, I was premature in hoping my sunlight allergy had gone - it hasn’t. There’ve been some pretty bad days, but so far not as bad as previous years, so maybe next year - we’ll see… Other than that, now coming up for six months on testosterone. As mentioned in my last video, my t-levels were too high (super-absorbent 😉) so my endo’s reduced my dose, as excess testosterone converts back into oestrogen. I’m now on half my initial dose. Voice continuing to deepen and settle, thighs continuing to hold the fort for fur-development, though tiny improvements on my arms, belly & lip-area. HAWTHORN MOONAccording to the Celts, the full moon between May 13th-June 9th is Hawthorn Moon (Celtic Huath: “Hoh-uh”) and is all about fertility, fire and masculine energy. ‘Coming’ hot on the heels of the fire-festival Beltane, when couples would copulate plein air to ensure crop fertility, the month is considered to have a raw, prick-ly, creative, phallic energy. Hawthorns bloom in May, hence ‘may-tree’. Good for carving, garlands & talismans, it was unlucky to bring any into buildings - because the Fae lived in the trees (so you’d damage their home) or maybe because the smell is death-like, thanks to the chemical trimethylamine, present in both the blossom and decaying animal tissue. According to British legend, the Virgin Mary’s uncle Joseph (of Arimathea) arrived on a hill near Glastonbury Tor, with disciples & two vessels containing Jesus’ blood and sweat. He thrust his staff into the soil, which sprouted and became the Holy Thorn of Glastonbury. One of its supposed descendants still stands on the hill, and other offspring from cuttings survive in Glastonbury and further afield. This particular thorn blooms twice a year, in May & around Christmas. A sprig was traditionally sent to the Queen to decorate her Christmas breakfast table.
