Writing Updates!

Thanks for putting up with me being a bit quiet on FB at mo – I’m working reeeally hard at The Tree of Life. Happy with how it’s going, been doing some major restructuring, which meeeans, basically, you’re kind of gonna get three books in one! I considered dividing but it would ruin the book, so you’ll be getting it all together (probably around 200-250K but we’ll see!). I’m pretty excited with what’s happening in it lol. Still aiming for late summer but my priority is of course putting out the book I want you all to read, so I’ll keep you posted!

After that, I’m planning two novellas (one concurrent and one a prequel) so there should be plenty more Hammer Falls this year! 😉

Moons & Myth:

Today’s full moon is the Willow Moon, known by the Celts as Saille (pron: sahl-yeh) and also called the Flower Moon, Milk Moon or Hare Moon. Willow loves water, so is common in Scotland and its wood was sacred to Hecate, Greek goddess of the Underworld.

Its ability to bend without breaking led to it becoming a symbol of grief, and its immensely unusual quality of being able to grow from a branch stuck into healthy soil (even if the branch is upside down!) made it a symbol of vigour, health and immortality in China and elsewhere. A true Tree of Life! (And both attributes are important in our Tree of Life)!

Naked Friends: Sophia Soames

The second EVER ‘Naked Friends’, my new Author Spotlight section to showcase writers who’ve given me help & support AND to tell you what they’re up to at the moment (!!!) – this month we have the fabulous Sophia Soames!

Sophia’s a Swedish-born author who’s lived in the UK her whole adult life. We connected a bit online then met properly via a promo group some of you may have seen ;) She’s as fab as she seems and incredibly supportive of other authors, a rarer trait than many may realise lol, but one Sophia has in spades.

Fun fact and one I LOVE her for: Most of Sophia’s novels were once fanfiction! And she still writes on AO3! She’s dabbled in several fandoms and says she loves the connection with readers the platform brings. As an author, she’s someone who never follows the rules and doesn’t believe in writing generic, formulaic storylines. “Instead, you get messy men with even messier feelings.” Yes yes yes!!!

So what’s coming up?! Whether you’re new to her or already know and love Sophia’s many awesome books and series, you probably cannae wait to ken what’s next from her. You’ll be thrilled to hear….

Sophia’s latest book, the fantastically titled Dirty Sexy Stupid Love, will be out in July, and is the story of two men whose lives mesh together through mutual friends. Harry is the idiot mate who drinks too much, runs his mouth and can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Owen is the stable theatre nurse who picks Harry up at the end of the night, takes him home and lets him sleep in his bed. Which is a bad, bad idea. Harry will never learn, and Owen’s heart will never figure out how to deal with a relationship that will never be.

Because Harry is not gay. At all.

I love Sophia’s writing and am looking forwards to this hugely!

Okay sooo I’m starting this section purely to share my favourite NSFW gif, meme or comic page from the past month. It maaay grow over time but we’re beginning with two gifs and an image!

That’s because I asked last month who wanted to see a gif of an Easter cock covered in chocolate and a bunch of you said, pfft, yeh – so I thought I’d give you all that one AND a May one too!

Gif 1 (April reboot). The timing on this is a thing of absolute, total wonder. This might be my favourite Easter themed gif of all time. Just saying.

Gif 2 (May). There are some seriously great naked oil wrestling gifs. This is probably how Sam imagines/hopes the Seminary is.
