What Happens in Hell (Stays in Hell)This one’s flying along (amazing how much faster shorter books are lol). First draft is finished already, I’m onto plot tightening & what I call ‘seeding’ (stitching ‘adds’/themes that came up during first draft back through the entire draft before editing-proper begins) and hoping to have a few wee snippets to share soon (no point before I finalise what’s staying!) Again, I did hope to have a cover reveal for you by this newsletter lol but I got waylaid with editing & also organising FOR A NEW PROJECT so it got bumped. Hoping to have something in the next couple of weeks!! As mentioned, there might be tentacles. There also might be creepy demons, dastardly plans and a bowlful of treats. BEAR/ASH MOON!February Moon is also ‘Snow Moon’, ‘Hungry Moon’ & (wooot) ‘BEAR MOON’ 🐻🐻🐻! Between that and the fact I call Ashmedai ‘Ash’ through every draft manuscript, this is one of my very favourite moons lol. Yggdrasil (the Norse Tree of Life, beneath which the gods held council) was an Ash. Odin’s spear (the reason Nate’s weapon is the spear) was from ash, and Odin hung himself from Yggdrasil for knowledge of the runes - an event reflected in Jin’s journey and commemorated at the entrance to Nate’s house. Ash (Celtic Nion, pron. knee-un) was one of the three sacred Druidic trees, alongsde oak & thorn. The tree is famed in many cultures as a powerful tree of life, death & rebirth, and its elegance earned it the name ‘Venus of the forest’. The wood itself is strong and supple - it’s said ash will bear more weight than any other wood. Used for chariot and coach axles, weapons & tool handles, its density also makes for perfect fuel, burning with intense heat for a long time, hence its Latin name Fraxinus or ‘firelight’ and its use as one of the traditional Yule log woods. |

As promised, the next installment in my wall calendar. This is February’s beautiful fellow, Jonzu, which means ‘Power’ or ‘Great Humanity’. Can’t help wishing the photographer had moved the hand back, as I’d quite like to look at Jonzu’s balls. Or Sam would, or something.On the other hand, as we know, I LOVE torso tats - and if there was ever a Hammer Falls film, Jonzu needs to be a demonstalker.
